Still Brewing: Coffee #2

Hello, friends! Happy Thursday! Today I have to share just a couple short thoughts on Luke 11 and 12.

"LORD, teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1c)
JESUS responds to this question with the LORD's prayer that many of us know by heart. This time reading this chapter in Luke, I fixated and mediated upon verses 9-10.

"And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."
Luke 11:9-10

I simply wrote in my journal:
ask, seek, knock --> pray constantly, be so absorbed with JESUS that I am constantly seeking HIM and constantly knocking

Then as I was rereading my notes to write this blog, I made a connection that I have not taken note of. That JESUS in that same conversation showed that HE answers prayers that are centered on HIM. One of HIS disciples asked in verse one to teach them to pray. And JESUS did just that. His disciples sought and asked, and JESUS answered.

I want my prayers to be so focused on JESUS and HIS kingdom. I want to continually praise HIM. I want to continually repent and always listen to the HOLY SPIRIT's conviction in my life lest I sear my conscience. I want to fervently pray for those around me in my life who do not have a relationship with CHRIST. I also want to pray for more boldness to share JESUS to more people around me.

The boldness aspect goes into my next thought from Luke 12:4-5.

'“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! "
Luke 12:4-5

It is crazy to me that I can fear man and go about the day as if it's my own and not fear the LORD of the entire universe who has authority to cast souls to hell. Now, when we are HIS children HE does not want us to be afraid, but we do need to fear and be in awe of our GOD.

A couple verses later, JESUS even tells us why we need not be afraid of man, and also the closeness we have with HIM.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. "
Luke 12:6-7

We fear the LORD, but we need not fear man because CHRIST knows the number of hairs on our heads. HE knows our every detail, that brings such immense peace, humility, and joy!

HIS Word is so rich. Even just a couple thoughts on a few verses challenge me on my growth on my walk with JESUS! The thought that lingers with me is Luke 11:1, LORD, teach us to pray. Oh LORD, grow my heart and teach me to pray.

LORD willing, see you all for our next cup of coffee together!
