Still Brewing: Coffee #24

Happy first week of August, friends! I cannot believe we are seven months through 2025. Today's meditation is from my Dad's and my study in Mark chapter 16.

"And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him." - Mark 16:6

"So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God." - Mark 16:19

In our studies together, we like to find something in HIS Word to takeaway to shape and grow us to become more like JESUS. As we were trying to find things to glean, it occurred to my Dad that we need to stop and meditate on the obvious and important truth.

JESUS is risen! HE is alive and reigning right now as we breathe. We serve a GOD—the one true GOD, who is active and alive!

As a studious person, I don't always need takeaways. It doesn't mean they are not important, but sometimes we just need to rest in CHRIST. Be reminded of how everything we have is solely and only in HIM

Sometimes we don't need a direct application—we simply need to behold JESUS. But please do not mistake this as an excuse to never have takeaways, because never trying to dig into HIS Word and glean can easily lead to a fruitless life (if you are not striving to love JESUS more and grow to become more like HIM).

Every day, we need to wash ourselves with the gospel—that our hope is found only in JESUS, not in anything we do.

JESUS is risen! We get to have life through HIM because HE is alive!

LORD willing, see you all for our next cup of coffee together!

  1. Hi Sabina, Every day, in my Bible Studies I use the NLT Life Application Study Bible. However, while I love it, it seems to me that the commentators, at times, seem to jump through hoops trying to find a contemporary application rather than let the Scripture speak for itself. "Sometimes we don't need a direct application—we simply need to behold JESUS." Love the thought!

    1. Yes!! As someone myself who loves studying, it can be easy to just pass over the simplicity of sitting and meditating on JESUS💗
