Still Brewing: Coffee #29

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

Hello, friends! Today I share some verses stemming from my reading in Job chapter twenty-two and twenty-four on how we are to delight in the LORD our portion. And oh what a joy and blessing that is!

"Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. ... then the Almighty will be your gold and your precious silver. For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows."
Job 22:22, 25-27

The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, therefore I will hope in him.”
Lamentations 3:24

JESUS is far more precious than anything of this world. Far more precious than gold, which is used to purchase the things of this world. Though all too often I live as though this world is worth more of my time than the LORD of all

Delighting in the LORD is one of the greatest joys you can haveIt brings you excitement and drive to grow closer to HIM. To understand more and more of HIS Word. To pray to HIM more consistently and fervently. To listen to Scripture being preached. To praise HIS holy name through songs. To read of HIS wonders through the writings of other faithful brothers and sisters in CHRIST.

We can have hope, trust, and peace in the LORD when we rest in the recognition that HE is our wonderful portion. That HE is everything we need in abundance

"For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness. “You say, ‘Swift are they on the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the land; no treader turns toward their vineyards."
Job 24:17-18

There is an empty and sad contrast to JESUS not being your portion. This world may look pleasing, but it is pure darkness to last an eternity. From morning till night is darkness. The land is cursed. Terror is their friend. There are no workers and no fruition from any labor left unfinished.

While those in CHRIST have everything in HIM, while HIS children are promised an anchor to the waves of this life, this world brings a stark opposition to that. Pain without the promise of CHRIST. Suffering without the hope found in HIM.

So, if you are found in the shelter of JESUS, bless HIS holy name in overflowing gratitude! Ask for more and more delight to pour out from your heart

If you have not trusted in JESUS as your LORD and Savior and given your life to HIM, repent of your sin and rest in the death and resurrection of JESUS while it is still called today

"Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,  ... As it is said, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.""
Hebrews 3:7-8, 15

"the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins."
Romans 3:22-25

For the fellow believer, remember that each moment is a new opportunity to delight even more in your all-encompassing Portion.

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

"I long for your salvation, O Lord, and your law is my delight."
Psalm 119:174

LORD willing, see you all for our next cup of coffee together!

  1. Thank you Sabina for today's Blog. Your last Blog reminded me of my continual battle with pride. But you didn't keep me wallowing in my sin. You pointed out to believers that the remedy for sin is to Delight in the Lord! Delighting in the Lord seems like a simple and obvious principle, but, it is O so profound! I'll go on record: the remedy for overcoming all sin is, TRUELY Delighting in the Lord! I'm going to try to practice what Sabina preached. Also, that "Alter Call"you presented was precious. Thank you for the challenge my friend!

    1. This is so true!! I think it was Dr Jonas who said that when we are not worshipping, we are sinning. So true delight in the LORD is the remedy to overcome sin!! Thank you again for your continual encouragement!! πŸ’—

  2. Spot on Sabina! I need to share something else. It was one of those funny/sad moments. When I discovered that I had TRUELY misspelled truly (in all caps too) l had a pride attack 😞. It's kind of funny, when we've been having serious discussions on the evil of pride, Mr David freaks out over a misspelled word! I hope we can still be friends.😁

    1. πŸ˜‚ you are such an encouragement to all of us David! I didn’t even notice the misspelling because our brains just read and fix things. I have plenty of typos myself πŸ˜‚

  3. “Though all too often I live as though this world is worth more of my time than the LORD of all.” … all too true. Though we could never give Him what He is truly worth, and though He forgave us for it once and for all, oh how far short we fall of this … May we strive to know and love Him more.

Thank you for the encouragement to intentionally delight in our Savior. Thank you also for your usual Scripture-rich posts and how much you rely on His Word over your own - another life-giving reminder.

    1. Amen!! We get to spend our lives here continually learning and growing to love HIM more and more as we live a life of repenting of our sins and shortcomings.πŸ₯ΉπŸ’—

And, thank you!! That is an encouragement to me (as well as an important reminder) as sometimes I feel like it's mostly Scripture rather than me writing something, but it is always HIS Words above my own!! πŸ’—
